At work, I like using distribution lists so that a whole team of people gets important emails. Distribution lists are useful for personal, too.

I made a family distribution list that emails my wife and I. We still heavily use our own email addreses, but the distribution list is useful for joint accounts, so we both get the emails. We also use it for things like travel bookings, where we both need the information.

I run our distribution list through Fastmail. Google Groups, or an extra Gmail account that forwards all emails, are two more ways to do the same thing.
