Hack: Spaced Repetition
For efficiently learning a lot of material, spaced repetition is a great tool. The hypothesis behind spaced repetition is the forgetting curve: The longer we go without reviewing something, the more likely we are to forget it, but review can reset the curve and make it milder.
In spaced repetition, a system (e.g., a computer program like Anki) is used to track the material and calculate the next review date for each item, based on when you last reviewed it and how well you remembered it then.
I used this technique while studying for some exams, and I think it’s one of the reasons I was able to memorize 500 Bible verses for the 2010 National Bible Bee. The algorithm guided my daily review.
